While not needed by most lenders in Georgia, if you're about to purchase a home, a termite inspection can keep you from buying a property with an active termite problem. If you're the seller of a home, an inspection can alert you to a problem that can be fixed before the buyer finds out about it.
Normally, checking for termites is done by a licensed termite specialist. This person is trained specifically to accurately tell if a home is indeed infested with termites, or if the problem is caused by other organisms present in the home.
